Do It AFRAID!

Everything sounds perfect … except for one thing, she said. “I’m AFRAID!”

“Yes,” I said, “I know. Did you know that really successful people look at ‘being afraid’ as a BIG GREEN LIGHT to grow? We muster courage when we are afraid and when we DO IT ANYWAY, we grow in awareness of our REAL and infinite potential!”
She did it … AFRAID!  That was my daughter when given an opportunity for which she had prayed and asked for two years.
————————
A 16 year middle school science teacher, twice nationally certified, and recent teacher of the year, my daughter started seeing herself stuck in one job until retirement and she was not happy about that visual. [Many would be thrilled to have that kind of tenure, right?] She is well liked, well known, and well respected in her position, yet under normal teaching curricula; she was unable to teach only advanced children or her favorite subjects, in depth.

She was offered a position to ‘create’ a science curriculum for advance students in 6, 7, and 8th grades for an entire county. But it would be at a different school!

She was comfortable at her old school. She knew the curriculum, the teachers, the students and the administration. And they all knew her.

This would be a new school, a new curriculum to develop, new administration, teachers, and logistics. Nothing to count on except, if this new curriculum were done well, SHE would be the ONE to teach it to other science teachers all over the county? How perfect!

After our talk as you saw above, she made the Decision (8th principle of success in Think and Grow Rich) and took the job. While she mentions to me that as students matriculate out of middle school, they always come back to see her and she would miss seeing them, hey, she says out loud, she could put a picture of herself on her old classroom door with her new location so those kids would find her.

Remember this … when you ‘feel’ uncomfortable, there are only 2 ways to go …

1) Your comfort zone where you grow very little (if at all).
2) Out of your comfort zone where you muster courage, stretch, and grow into your own greatness.

Next time something you really want shows up and it scares you … will you do it ‘afraid?’

DANGER … Stop CLIPPING COUPONS!

Raising a family, now on their own, Sundays was  the day I sat down with the weekly paper and clipped coupons for the goods I already buy routinely. Some folks clip them for store brands as well. I like name brands so I stopped there.

Either way, clipping coupons will put you in DANGER … of living ABUNDANTLY!

This subtle, lifelong, societal programming undermines our results and our lifestyle and causes us to NOT THRIVE.

She’s crazy you may be thinking! It makes sense to be frugal and get good value.

The act of clipping coupons sends the message to the Universe – consistently, in spaced intervals, repeatedly and over time that YOU CAN’T AFFORD THIS PRODUCT at FULL PRICE. That is how we learn anything … over time … in short consistent spaced bursts. By default you are creating that Belief!

I clipped coupons for 2 DECADES and wondered why I was surviving and making ends meet. I’m a good person and give a lot. Where’s MY abundance, I thought?

Then I did in-depth study for a decade on principled living, goal achievement, self image reshaping, the subconscious mind, and ALL the universal laws that govern our world – not just the misunderstood and lonely Law of Attraction. And I learned that whether we repeat things and take actions consistently and over time whether purposely or by default … is what has us live a lifestyle that MATCHES what we say and do. Thoughts become things after all.

Whether on purpose or by default, if you CLIP COUPONS, you will have matching results … just getting by. Those who live abundantly and are wealthy, happy, and healthy in all areas of life (how we were designed by the way while only about 3 of every 100 ever get there) DO NOT CLIP COUPONS.

I took this vow and have already seen money coming to me from more places than before.

I WILL NEVER CLIP ANOTHER COUPON!

Won’t you join me? Let’s muster ABUNDANT results and a lifestyle to match, rather than meager ones. Only one kind of results prevails and WE decide that by what WE THINK and DO.

6 Ways to Identify the GO-TAKER

You may have heard of the Go-Giver … a term Napoleon Hill used some 75 years ago in his best selling personal development book,  Think and Grow Rich. Bob Burg and John David Mann titled their book The Go-Giver. I have learned that almost everyone with a voice in personal development today developed their platform based in Hill’s #1 best seller of all time. It is sixth in sales to the Bible after all.

While Burg and Mann mention the Go-Taker in their book, these 6 ways are my perspective on GO-TAKERS.

Every met the GO-TAKER? They are the opposite of the Go-Giver. And we cannot BE BOTH! They put on the go-giver mask, but are always on the ‘take.’  That’s their motive — their watch-word — let’s get something .. anything of value … for nothing. They thrive in a network like inside919 where they know people provide good value first. They just keep on taking!

  1. The GO-TAKERS are always looking for something for FREE. They actually ask for it!! They do not value themselves so they do not value you. It can be a class … or it might be a dishwasher you are giving away … they take it and STORE it to be sold for personal profit later!
  2. The GO-TAKERS want to trade or barter … any way they can … so they don’t invest one dollar. They ‘pretend’ they will invest, but never do.  They repeat this behavior with different groups of people. When people in one group figure them out, they simply move on to another group and continue taking. After all, there ARE endless groups of people, ripe for the GO-TAKERS to feed.
  3. The GO-TAKERS LEAD with their degrees, certifications, books, or honors, whether verbally or in writing. They believe they ARE these things!
  4. The GO-TAKERS often END their communications with those same degrees, certifications, written books, or honors. No matter if it goes on ad nauseum for pages and pages.
  5. The GO-TAKERS pretend they don’t know they are the TAKERS. They KNOW! And are so practiced they have you believing they ‘didn’t realize’ or ‘know’ what they were doing.
  6. The GO-TAKERS talk about success — even TEACH it — yet have never experienced it in the true sense of the word. Success comes from go-giving, not GO-TAKING.

These folks have a deeply ingrained mindset of LACK – there just isn’t enough for them, or to go around, on this planet.  Always on the prowl for free trainings and material things, they really are saying to the Universe that they are not WORTH any investment in themselves! That they can’t PAY for or afford anything. That’s LACK, pure and simple. That’s your GO-TAKER.

While I personally give or tithe as an act of generosity, there comes a time when one becomes aware that the GO-TAKER has no desire to change their scraping by, taking from others, and expecting a rescue. Perhaps when this becomes obvious, generosity can move on to a true Go-Giver.

Projection and the Hypocrite

Projection is fascinating phenomenon … the things we like or dislike in others, match the things we like or dislike about ourselves! It’s automatically top of mind for us.

Case in point – had a fellow who thought he wanted to be in a study group I facilitate. After the 1st session he did not return. Sometime later I asked the person who brought him what happened.

He said in so many words that I reminded him of his mother-in-law and he kept seeing her and could not concentrate. I understood!

He didn’t realize he was projecting of course.

The hypocrite judges another as wrong and gathers agreement from others to feel ‘right.’ Their awareness is such that they are blind to the fact that they do just what they are complaining about! Judging and gossiping!

They say one thing and then do another. You’ve seen this in others. Have you seen it in yourself?

If you do, I commend you, as knowing this about ourselves has us grow exponentially!

The hypocrite is looking for the very things in others they don’t like about themselves. So when I saw someone complaining on FB about what looked to them like someone judging another, off they went, gathering agreement from anyone and everyone about how ‘wrong’ that person was to do that.

I sat back and chuckled to myself as the observer, as I have seen this person do the very thing they complained about half a dozen times at least.

The greatness we see in others matches our own level of greatness.

What we dislike in others matches our own dislike of ourselves.

Next time someone rubs you the wrong way, stop a moment and do a ‘check up from the neck up.’

Do they remind you of someone close? If you look you will see it as we are endowed with all the answer to any questions we might have.

5 Good Reasons to Stop Second-Guessing Yourself

Have you ever committed to an event and had every intention of going from day one, and having a great time and then about an hour or two before, you don’t ‘feel well,’ or ‘have a headache’ and begin to ‘talk yourself out of going?’

It happens to me more than I care to admit. The conversation is “I don’t feel well and they won’t miss me anyway.” It’s called second-guessing yourself.
I asked myself this question “why did I agree to go to begin with?” recently when this exact thing happened to me. I committed weeks in advance without a second thought to an event I knew I would love.

I wanted to see everyone, have a bite to eat, a glass of wine, and have some fun!

It happened one Thursday evening not long ago. My stomach really did start hurting about 2 hours prior to the event. I searched my memory banks for ‘negative’ thoughts as what we ‘think’ always shows up, one way or another, in physical form. [I caused the illness to get out of going!]

I even sent an email to the host saying I ‘may not’ be in attendance.

Then I said, “No. Not this time. I’m going!” I took 2 Tums and in seconds I felt better.

Why is this important? It is important because of what I would have missed if I had BELIEVED my old limiting beliefs that I am transparent, don’t make a difference, am not seen, and do not make a difference.

Here’s what happened that evening at the event — 5 really great reason to attend!

  • Met the building operations officer, saw the brand new training room, and discussed cost for doing workshops there. Prices seemed pretty fair. Love the location even though it’s at least 30 minutes from home. I began thinking about what kind of workshop I would host there.
  • Sat down with a dear friend to chat … she won a door prize … nice Malbec which she said she’d not drink and gave it to me.
  • Reconnected with my daughter’s childhood friend. They competed in baton from about age 6 to 18. She’s all grown up and a Ph.D.!
  • Then came an announcement. Several people were dubbed ‘experts’ and my name was called.
  • Then the big door prize as I sat behind the glass just the other side of the announcer. I had not won a prize yet so I put my fingers to both temples in an effort to channel being a winner, as a friend of mine calls it. INSISTING I win. <strong>And so it was.

Guess what the doorprize was? Three months using the training room and office, valued at $350/month – $1050!

The next time you catch yourself doing some second guessing and are working to talk yourself OUT of going somewhere you really want to be … think of me. It could not have been a more fruitful evening for so many reasons … and I would have missed a lot. [graphic at left  is me doing the ‘happy’ flowers dance!]
